        penneydinner Penny Dinners Fundraiser :

The student council delivered the proceeds of the Bake Sale, €1,065, to Penny Dinners on Friday.  Caitríona, the manager, was thrilled and asked the boys to pass on their appreciation to the boys, their parents and the staff.

 

Confirmation :

Best wishes to the boys in 6th class who will receive the sacrament of confirmation in the North Cathedral this Thursday at 10:30a.m.

P.E.N. Company, Cork :

Fionn O’ Rourke’s (5th class) sister, Breffni, has a Transition Year mini company called P.E.N. (Portal for Educational Needs) with two friends, Ciara Donoghue and Sandra Dinan.  It’s a 4-in-1 pen containing an inbuilt 2GB USB, touchscreen stylus, a fine nib pen with blue ink and an optional pre-loaded study guide.  Pens cost €6.50 for a blank pen or €8.50 with the study guide included.  Fionn O’Rourke and Donagh O’ Connell (5th class) are ambassadors for the company and are selling the pens in school.  Orders will be taken up until Friday, 29th April.  The girls are representing Cork City in the student Enterprise Awards National Finals in Croke Park, tomorrow, 20th April, as they won the Regional Finals.  Best of luck from all in Blarney Street!

 

Irish Aid Awards :

Congratulations to Mr. Kennedy’s and Mr. Hannon’s 5th class, whose Irish Aid project has been selected for the Regional Finals.  They will be held on Thursday, 19th May.  Best of luck boys!

 

First Holy Communion :

Final Blazer fitting tomorrow, Wednesday at 1:20p.m. in Staff Room.

Sciath na Scol :

The school hurling team have gotten off to an excellent start in this year’s Sciath na Scol competition  Winning their first 4 games, next up Mayfield on Tuesday, 26th April at 12:30, Blarney Street Abú.

 

Cór Fhéile na Scol :

The 6th class brass band and some boys from 4th and 5th gave a great performance at Cór Fhéile in the City Hall last Tuesday night.  Well done to them all and to Ms. Griffin and Mr. Burke.

Dog Fouling Competition :

Best of luck to Kane Murphy and Colin Hannigan who will represent the school in the city wide “Dog Fouling Art Competition” in City Hall next Monday. All pupils who took part in the art competition will have their art on display in Merchants Quay Shopping Centre on Wednesday 27th April between 11am-2pm should their parents wish to have a look.  All finalists’ art will be on display in the four shopping centres below on each of the following dates :- Blackpool Shopping Centre  –  Tuesday 26th April – 11am-2pm

Merchants Quay Shopping Centre  –  Wednesday 27th April -11am-2pm

Wilton Shopping Centre  –  Thursday 28th April -11am-2pm

Douglas Court Shopping Centre  –  Friday 29th April -11am-2pm

 

Lifelong Learning :

A special thank you to the Rock Band and Mr Burke. The rock band entertained the large crowd at the Lifelong Learning Festival with two classic songs, Wild Things and We Will Rock You. Also a big thank you to all the boys and parents who created the art pieces for the event. The artwork and photos from the art sessions will be on display in the library in Blackpool for the next two weeks. We are encouraging everyone to pay a visit to see the display. Also this year anyone who wishes to join the library made do so for free!
